Indonesia launches new investment agencies to boost regional growth

The West Java Provincial Council (DPRD) is reviewing a proposal to create a regional state‑owned enterprise holding through PT Sangga Buana. The plan aims to improve efficiency, prevent local government budgets from being used as an "ATM," and increase dividend income for the region. Officials cite the management model of Jakarta’s BUMD as a reference and target the holding’s formal establishment by August 2026.

Separately, the national investment body Danantara is reported to be contributing to Indonesia’s economic momentum. According to consumer‑protection commissioner Ir. Jailani, the country posted a 5.6% growth in the first half of 2026, with investment reaching Rp1,010 trillion. He said Danantara “is one answer to the need for professional asset management that generates added economic value, strengthens industry downstreaming, attracts investment and creates jobs.” Both initiatives are part of President Prabowo Subianto’s broader strategy to diversify financing beyond the state budget and sustain growth toward the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision.
