Indonesia legal updates: PT CCM corruption probe and prosecutor rotations

Indonesia's Attorney General's Office is conducting several legal and administrative actions. Investigators are probing alleged coal mining corruption involving PT CCM in Nunukan, North Kalimantan, covering the period from 2013 to 2025. This investigation included searches at PT CCM's Jakarta office and the residences of former regional officials.

In separate legal developments, the Jakarta High Court reduced the sentence for former Minister of Education Nadiem Anwar Makarim from 10 to nine years in prison regarding a Chromebook corruption case. Additionally, prosecutors have requested a five-year prison sentence for the inactive Regent of Pekalongan, Fadia Arafiq, in connection with project management corruption and gratification.

On the administrative front, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has rotated 16 prosecutors. This reshuffle includes the appointment of new heads for the Jakarta Pusat, Jakarta Selatan, and Jakarta Utara District Attorney offices.
