Indonesia mandates SNI certification for Free Nutritious Meal food trays

The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has mandated that food trays used for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program must carry the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) label.

Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that this requirement aims to ensure that products used by the public meet established quality, safety, and security standards. Because food trays come into direct contact with food, the Minister emphasized that the quality of materials and production processes requires serious attention.

Additionally, the standardization policy is intended to serve as an instrument to improve the quality and competitiveness of domestic industrial products. The Ministry noted that domestic industries must be prepared to consistently provide high-quality products to meet the large demand generated by the MBG program.
