Indonesia marks 81st Independence Day with community and national service events

Various leaders in Indonesia marked the 81st anniversary of Indonesian Independence with community and national service events.

In Jakarta, Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad participated in a fun walk organized by the Riau Society Association in Jakarta and alumni of the University of Riau (Unri). Ahmad emphasized that the independence momentum should strengthen ties among migrants and highlighted the potential of alumni and migrant communities to contribute to regional development.

Separately, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo met with Garda Satya NKRI, a group comprising former members and sympathizers of Jamaah Islamiyah who have pledged loyalty to the Republic of Indonesia. During a thanksgiving event, Prabowo urged the group to turn the independence milestone into a moment of real service by supporting national stability, economic resilience, and social welfare programs.
