Indonesia Ministry of Culture increases endowment fund to Rp6 trillion

The Indonesian Ministry of Culture has increased its cultural endowment fund to Rp6 trillion as part of its efforts to advance national culture. Under the leadership of Minister Fadli Zon, the ministry aims to reach a cultural advancement index of 68.15.

Minister Zon reported that the number of national cultural heritage sites has reached 1,257 as of October 2026, significantly surpassing the previous record of 228 sites held between 2013 and 2024. Approximately 7,000 additional objects and sites are currently undergoing research by expert teams for potential designation.

To improve regional preservation, the ministry has expanded its network to 33 units, including 30 Cultural Preservation Centers and three Cultural Preservation Offices. Additionally, the ministry has managed the restoration and maintenance of 104 cultural heritage sites, museums, palaces, and kratons, with plans to increase this number to 240 by the end of the year.
