Indonesia Ministry of Finance confirms direct salary payments to civil servants
Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara has confirmed that salaries for civil servants (PNS), military personnel (TNI), and police officers (Polri) will continue to be paid directly into their personal bank accounts. This decision follows a proposal from Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono to involve the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative (KDKMP) in the distribution process.
Nazara emphasized that the government utilizes a government-to-person (G2P) payment system, where funds are transferred from the state general treasury directly to individual accounts. This method is intended to modernize treasury operations and increase efficiency. The distribution is facilitated through state-owned banks (Himbara), including BRI, BNI, Bank Mandiri, and BTN, as well as other qualified commercial banks.
The direct payment scheme also extends to teacher professional allowances and social protection programs, such as the Family Hope Program (PKH). The Ministry of Finance is working to ensure all recipient data, including identities and account numbers, remains valid and accurate to support these direct transfers.
