Indonesia Ministry of Health advances digital health through Sandbox and SATUSEHAT

The Indonesian Ministry of Health is accelerating digital transformation by strengthening its Health Sandbox, a controlled testing environment for innovators to develop and validate health technology solutions. Between 2023 and 2025, 60 health innovations passed verification, with 39 receiving official registration. During the Health Innovation Showcase 2026, 11 innovators presented solutions focused on readiness and integration with the SATUSEHAT platform.

SATUSEHAT has now connected with over 43,000 healthcare facilities across Indonesia, including nearly all hospitals and more than 90 percent of community health centers (puskesmas). This integration allows for continuous management of Electronic Medical Records (RME) across different facilities. Emerging trends in the sector include the use of artificial intelligence for genetic testing and the automated summarization of clinical conversations into medical records.

In regional applications, the Banyuwangi Regency has been recognized for its health service innovations, specifically its real-time health dashboard, Simpus Wangi. This system allows health workers to monitor patient visits and health trends at community health centers in real time, supporting both curative and preventive healthcare programs.
