Indonesia Ministry of Home Affairs promotes innovation culture

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Akhmad Wiyagus has called on regional governments to integrate innovation into their daily work culture ahead of the 2026 Innovative Government Award (IGA). Speaking at a regional head presentation event in Jakarta, Wiyagus emphasized that innovation should not be limited to new applications or program name changes, but should instead represent more effective ways to deliver public value.

He noted that the IGA should serve as a catalyst for local governments to create, replicate, and expand best practices. Wiyagus highlighted the need to strengthen productivity, institutional quality, and technological development. To build a consistent innovation ecosystem, he advocated for increased collaboration between the government, the business sector, universities, and the media.
