Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower expands vocational training programs

The Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is significantly expanding its vocational training initiatives to align workforce skills with market demands. Minister Yassierli announced plans to build 60 new vocational training centers across various regions to increase public access to professional development.

The ministry aims to provide fully government-funded training and certification for 1 million people within a single year. This initiative utilizes a ‘skill-first’ approach, focusing on individual competencies to meet the requirements of modern industries.

To ensure training relevance, Kemnaker is optimizing Labor Market Intelligence (LMI) and updating the Indonesian Standard Classification of Occupations (KBJI). In Sukabumi, West Java, the ministry recently launched the second batch of the Tailor Made Training (TMT) program, offering 100 vocational packages for 1,600 participants across sectors including digital economy, food and culinary, garment and fashion, and beauty.
