Indonesia Ministry of Religious Affairs introduces digital marriage cards
The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has announced that digital marriage cards can now be accessed online through the Marriage Management Information System (Simkah). Ahmad Zayadi, Director of KUA and Sakinah Family Development, stated that users with a Simkah account can download the cards directly from the official website.
For those without an account, digital cards can be requested through the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) where the marriage was performed. After verifying original marriage books, officials will send the digital card via email or WhatsApp. The digital cards feature a QR code for verification to prevent forgery and are designed to be easily stored on mobile devices or printed in an ATM-sized format.
Separately, the Ministry issued an apology regarding a viral incident involving a marriage official (penghulu) who behaved unprofessionally toward a photographer during a ceremony. Kemenag emphasized that all services must follow standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure sacred marriage ceremonies are conducted with respect and professionalism.
