Indonesia Ministry of Religious Affairs launches 15 tolerance programs

The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has announced 15 programs under the movement ‘The Wonder of Harmony 2026: Merawat Toleransi, Menguatkan Negeri’ to strengthen interfaith harmony. The initiative, led by the Directorate General of Islamic Community Guidance, is designed to commemorate International Tolerance Day on November 16, 2026.

Key activities include a Harmony Dialogue scheduled for November 2, 2026, which will bring together Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar and 50 leaders from central religious organizations. The programs utilize a ‘dadutainment’ approach, blending religious messages with education, culture, and social activities.

Other scheduled initiatives include capacity building for religious counselors in Depok and Bogor, marriage guidance for youth in Banten, and participation in the Halal Expo 2026 in Depok. Additionally, the ministry will continue its ‘Nikah Akbar’ (mass wedding) program in several regions, including Ambon, Medan, Deli Serdang, and Surakarta.
