Indonesia Ministry of Social Affairs provides vocational training for students
The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) is providing vocational training to students at Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi (SRT) 3 in South Sulawesi to prepare them for the workforce. The initiative aims to foster independence, allowing graduates to either pursue higher education or enter the professional world immediately.
In collaboration with Collins Hair Studio, 35 students from various Sekolah Rakyat in South Sulawesi participated in a week-long training program starting October 26, 2026. The curriculum includes professional hair cutting, hairstyling, and makeup artistry. Participants underwent psychological testing prior to the training sessions.
Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono stated that the Sekolah Rakyat education model integrates rehabilitation, education, and vocational training. The ministry plans to expand these programs by partnering with various stakeholders to include sectors such as agriculture, maritime, technology, and mechanics based on regional needs.
