Indonesia mourns two young athletes following deaths at Porprov XVII

NOC Indonesia has expressed deep condolences following the deaths of two young athletes during the Porprov XVII Central Java 2026 regional sports week. The deceased have been identified as Syabilla Rizkia Putri Raharja, a diver from Jepara Regency, and Ayudiah Rivana Tridiandinita, a pencak silat athlete from Semarang.

Regarding the death of Ayudiah Rivana Tridiandinita, the Semarang Police are planning to request exhumation from the family to determine the exact cause of death. While hospital officials stated that a minor surgery on a broken finger followed standard operating procedures, preliminary investigations suggested a possible undetected blood vessel blockage. Police have interviewed 12 witnesses, including doctors and hospital leadership, to clarify whether other factors contributed to the fatality.

NOC Indonesia President Raja Sapta Oktohari called for the incident to serve as a momentum for evaluation, emphasizing that athlete safety and protection must be a fundamental priority in the sporting ecosystem.
