Indonesia national futsal team concludes Copa das Nacoes de Futsal 2026

The Indonesian national futsal team concluded its participation in the VI Copa das Nacoes de Futsal 2026 in Sao Jose dos Pinhais, Brazil, without securing a victory. The team, coached by Hector Souto, faced losses against Brazil (0-3), Cape Verde (0-2), and Peru (1-2) in the fifth-place playoff.

Despite the results, Budi Setiawan, Secretary General of the Indonesian Futsal Federation (FFI), stated that the tournament serves as a developmental step toward reaching the global top 10. He noted that various aspects of the team require improvement to meet expectations.

Setiawan expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) for their support. He specifically thanked Minister of Youth and Sports and PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir for providing moral, programmatic, and financial assistance. The FFI reported receiving approximately Rp20 billion from the state budget (APBN) in 2026 to support futsal development, including the costs for this international tournament.
