Indonesia observes National Museum Day and East Java's 81st anniversary

October 12 marks several significant commemorations in Indonesia. It is observed as National Museum Day, an occasion intended to raise public awareness regarding the preservation of history and culture. This designation stems from the first Indonesian Museum Deliberation held in Yogyakarta from October 12–14, 1962, and was formally established following a meeting of approximately 250 museum managers in Malang in 2015.

Additionally, October 12, 2026, marks the 81st anniversary of East Java Province. The anniversary celebration carries the theme ‘East Java: Superior, Advanced, Sustainable’.
