Indonesia offers 32 strategic infrastructure projects to Japanese investors
The Indonesian government is targeting Japanese investors to fund various transportation and infrastructure projects. During the ‘Indonesia-Japan Infrastructure and Transportation Business Forum and Business Matching’ held in Tokyo on August 27-28, 2026, officials presented 32 strategic investment projects from nine state-owned and regional enterprises (BUMN/BUMD).
The proposed projects have an indicative investment value of Rp207.64 trillion. Key sectors include roads and highways, residential and township development, commercial property, railways, Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), ports, logistics, and steel fabrication facilities. The forum included representatives from approximately 36 Japanese companies and financial institutions, such as Sumitomo Corporation, Toyota Tsusho, Mizuho Bank, and Tokyu JR East.
Ferry Irawan, Deputy for Coordination of State-Owned Enterprise Management at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, stated that these curated projects aim to accelerate national infrastructure development and foster collaboration with Japanese partners. He noted that Indonesia's economic fundamentals remain strong, citing a 5.61 percent growth rate in the first half of 2026 and controlled inflation of 3.34 percent.
