Indonesia online gambling revenue tops Rp327 trillion, Bogor leads player concentration
Online gambling in Indonesia generated an estimated Rp327 trillion in transactions, according to the Financial Transaction Analysis Center (PPATK). The surge reflects the popularity of slot games and other digital betting platforms, despite ongoing government efforts to block sites and pursue legal action.
PPATK data for 2025 shows Kabupaten Bogor as the region with the highest number of online gambling participants, tallying over 103,000 users. Jakarta West recorded the largest deposit volumes, around Rp792 billion, while other Jakarta districts and surrounding cities also rank among the top five. Most players are males aged 20‑40, indicating that the activity involves a substantial share of the working‑age population.
The scale of the market raises concerns about financial losses, potential debt, mental‑health issues, and broader social impacts, prompting calls for stronger regulatory measures.
