Indonesia online gambling transactions reach Rp327 trillion

In Indonesia, the scale of online gambling transactions continues to rise annually. Reports from 2023 indicate that at least Rp327 trillion of public funds were used for online gambling. The issue is exacerbated by aggressive promotion across social media, internet sites, applications, and video games, making individuals of all ages vulnerable.

Experts suggest that simply blocking websites or applications may not be effective in eradicating the practice. Addressing underlying mental health issues, such as depression or anxiety, is viewed as a necessary component in reducing the compulsion to gamble.
