Indonesia Pingpong League Grand Final sparks dispute with national table tennis association
The Indonesia Pingpong League (IPL) held its Season 2 Grand Final in Cibubur, which organizers described as a vital testing ground for athletes preparing for international competition. IPL Chairman Petrus Reinhard Golose stated the event serves to evaluate technical skills and mental readiness, helping athletes handle the pressure of high-level matches.
However, the competition has sparked a dispute with the Indonesian Table Tennis Association (PB PTMSI). PB PTMSI Chairman Peter Layardi reported that the IPL did not seek official notification or cooperation from their organization. While PB PTMSI, which is recognized by the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI), has notified provincial and local branches of the situation, they noted that athletes participating in the IPL may face administrative sanctions, such as being denied recommendations for official PB PTMSI championships.
