Indonesia plans four undersea cable landing stations

Indonesia is planning to establish four strategic undersea cable landing stations to support its goal of becoming an Asia-Pacific telecommunications hub. According to Kartika Listriana, Director General of Marine Spatial Planning at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the proposed locations are Jakarta, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Manado, and Jayapura.

The selection of these sites is based on connectivity effectiveness. For instance, the station in Papua is intended to enhance connectivity with Australia by aligning with existing Australian network points. The government has also identified more than 100 potential hub points to optimize regional coverage and digital infrastructure.
