Indonesia police arrest Interpol fugitive Leny Agustya over human‑trafficking for online gambling in Cambodia

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) captured Leny Agustya, an Interpol Red Notice suspect, at Soekarno‑Hatta International Airport on 29 July 2026. He is alleged to have led a network that trafficked Indonesian citizens to Cambodia to work as operators for illegal online gambling sites.

Investigators said Agustya coordinated recruitment through WhatsApp groups, arranged false travel itineraries to Malaysia, and provided flight tickets and hotel bookings to conceal the scheme. Two accomplices were also detained, and two prospective victims were rescued in January 2026 after a foiled smuggling attempt. Brigjen Untung Widyatmoko, secretary of Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Indonesia, confirmed the arrest and the ongoing effort to identify additional victims.

The operation involved Polri’s International Relations Division, the Criminal Investigation Unit of Soekarno‑Hatta Airport, immigration authorities, and other agencies, marking a coordinated response to transnational human‑trafficking linked to online gambling.
