Indonesia Police Boost Hajj Pilgrim Protection with Saudi Arabia

Deputy Police Chief Komjen Dedi Prasetyo visited Riyadh on 22‑23 May 2026 to meet Saudi Presidency of State Security officials, including Vice Director of Intelligence Mayjen Abdul Hamid. The talks focused on strengthening coordination to safeguard Indonesian pilgrims during the upcoming 2026 Hajj season.

The meeting is part of a broader effort by Indonesia’s Satgas Haji police unit and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to prevent non‑procedural pilgrimages, visa misuse and fraud. So far the unit has handled 11 police reports and 21 information reports, identified 13 suspects, assisted 320 victims and recovered losses of roughly Rp10.0 billion, while also stopping 32 illegal departures.

Both sides emphasized the need for continuous information exchange and joint oversight before and during the pilgrimage to ensure the safety and orderly conduct of Indonesia’s large contingent of pilgrims.
