Indonesia police thwart several drug smuggling operations in June 2026

Indonesian law‑enforcement agencies disrupted a series of drug‑smuggling attempts in June 2026. In Jakarta, prison and detention‑center staff stopped four shipments concealed in intimate body parts, cough‑medicine bottles and hair bundles, seizing a total of about 29 g of methamphetamine. "Dari hasil pemeriksaan awal, kedua pelaku menggunakan modus yang sama, yakni menyembunyikan paket diduga narkotika di bagian organ intim," said Wachid Wibowo of the Jakarta Prison Directorate.

The Bareskrim Police uncovered a cross‑province syndicate that hid methamphetamine (≈405 g) and about 100 ecstasy tablets inside a black speaker package shipped from Palembang to Bogor. In East Jakarta, officers found a new “WC‑suction” sticker used to mark drug parcels. Ipda Gandi Rezeki Sinaga explained the tactic: stickers were placed on poles and trees to signal meth and synthetic tobacco sales.

Bekasi police seized 540 tramadol tablets, 692 eximer tablets and cash worth Rp 615 000 after arresting two suspects who were distributing unlicensed hard drugs.

Separately, an Aceh university student and a co‑courier were apprehended at Soekarno‑Hatta Airport with nearly 4 kg of methamphetamine destined for Kendari, Sulawesi, an operation valued at roughly Rp 4.8 billion. Kapolresta Soekarno‑Hatta Kombes Pol Wisnu Wardana said the case resulted from joint intelligence work between the airport narcotics unit and customs.
