Indonesian police seize up to 80 kg methamphetamine and multiple cannabis shipments

Indonesian law‑enforcement agencies carried out a series of drug busts in August 2026. A joint operation by Bea Cukai, Bareskrim and Densus 88 intercepted an international smuggling network, seizing about 80 kg of methamphetamine and 5,200 MDMA tablets that were being moved from Malaysia to Sumatra’s east coast.

At Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport, customs officers detained an Indian national, Akshay Roshan, who attempted to bring more than 10 kg of cannabis from Thailand. In Jakarta’s Palmerah district, police recovered four kilograms of cannabis hidden in sealed packages. Other regional police units seized smaller quantities: 3.5 kg of meth in Surakarta, 82 cannabis packets in Tanah Datar, 0.139 kg of meth in Gresik, 62 meth packets in Paser, and 9 g of meth in Deli Serdang.

These coordinated actions underscore Indonesia’s intensified crackdown on both domestic drug trafficking and cross‑border narcotics networks.
