Indonesia police chief reports major drug, smuggling and online gambling crackdown

Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo told officials that in the first half of 2026 the Indonesian National Police uncovered 24,837 drug cases involving 32,792 suspects and seized evidence worth about Rp10.4 trillion, including 3.1 tonnes of methamphetamine, 4.1 tonnes of cannabis, 763,000 ecstasy pills and 59.2 million hard‑drug tablets. The operation was said to have protected roughly 89 million lives. In the smuggling arena, officers prevented the export of 87 illegal containers and uncovered a shipment of 28 tonnes of tin bound for Malaysia. The crackdown on online gambling resulted in 718 cases, 1,164 suspects and the seizure of assets worth Rp1.75 trillion; 278,000 gambling sites were blocked and a network of 145 domains run by 322 foreign nationals was dismantled. Police also transformed 148 villages into drug‑free zones.

In the same period, Listyo Sigit Prabowo announced the mutasi (re‑assignment) of three senior police officers – including Irjen Pol Marzuki Alibasyah – as part of a routine rotation affecting 74 officers. The reshuffle aims to boost professionalism and leadership within the force.
