Indonesian authorities seize drugs and illegal cigarettes in multiple raids

Police and customs officials in Indonesia carried out a series of operations against illicit narcotics and untaxed tobacco. In North Sumatra's Langkat district, officers arrested a 33‑year‑old man and confiscated about 83.5 g of methamphetamine, a plastic‑wrapped package and a motorcycle. In Mataram, Lombok, two men were detained with 60.87 g of methamphetamine hidden in a waist bag at a fuel station. In East Kalimantan, a suspect was caught with ten bottles of chemical precursors, totaling 5.48 L, four of which contained methamphetamine and the others amphetamine.

Customs raids targeted illegal cigarettes. In Malang, officers uncovered more than one million cigarettes concealed beneath rice‑husk pallets, seizing 53,980 packs valued at roughly Rp 1.64 billion. In Kediri, a joint operation with local police and the military stopped the distribution of 46,860 cigarettes in Jombang, worth about Rp 70.5 million. The Blitar regency allocated Rp 487.25 million from tobacco‑excise revenue to its local Satpol PP to strengthen enforcement against illicit tobacco trade. These actions reflect a coordinated effort to curb illegal drug production and untaxed tobacco circulation across several Indonesian provinces.
