Indonesia intercepts 7.9 kg meth and 5,000 ecstasy pills smuggled from Malaysia

Customs officers and the Bengkalis police in Riau province carried out a joint operation that intercepted 7.889 kg of methamphetamine and 5,015 ecstasy tablets intended for distribution in Indonesia. Intelligence indicated the drugs were being shipped from Malaysia via a sea route to the Bantan district. The raid on a silver minibus in Desa Bantan Timur apprehended a suspect identified as D (23) and uncovered a travel bag containing eight large packs of meth and one pack of ecstasy. Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of two additional suspects, F (21) and A (22), in Pekanbaru, who were linked to the shipment as receiver and intermediary. All seized narcotics, a motorcycle, and four smartphones were transferred to the narcotics investigation unit for further prosecution. Authorities said the operation helped protect tens of thousands of youths from drug exposure.
