Indonesia political parties prepare for 2029 election cycles

Indonesian political parties are beginning to outline strategies and reform proposals ahead of the 2029 General Election and the 2027 political party verification process.

Muhamad Mardiono, Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP), is encouraging party cadres and their families to become a core political force. During a meeting with the West Java PPP leadership, Mardiono emphasized that mobilizing family networks can strengthen the party's presence in society during the upcoming verification and electoral stages.

Meanwhile, Mahfuz Sidik, Secretary General of Partai Gelora Indonesia, has proposed streamlining the election process to make it more efficient. He suggested that political parties that previously participated in elections should only be required to re-register administratively, rather than undergoing lengthy factual verification, provided their names and founding documents remain unchanged. Sidik argued that the current lengthy verification procedures overshadow the actual campaign and socialization periods.
