Indonesia intensifies preparations for 2026 Asian Games

Indonesia is intensifying its preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, scheduled from September 19 to October 4, 2026. Chef de Mission Todotua Pasaribu has conducted visitation to 18 of the 35 projected sports disciplines to assess non-technical needs, including accommodation, transportation, and athlete welfare.

In weightlifting, veteran lifter Eko Yuli Irawan is positioned to make his sixth Asian Games appearance. The Indonesian weightlifting roster includes several athletes such as Rahmat Erwin Abdullah and Rizki Juniansyah. In archery, the Indonesian Archery Association has named a 10-athlete squad with the goal of securing at least one silver medal.

The women's volleyball team faces a challenging group stage, having been drawn into Group A alongside host nation Japan and Nepal. Meanwhile, the para-archery team is scheduled to compete in a tournament in India to gain points for potential qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.
