Indonesia prepares Museum Bill to strengthen heritage management
The Indonesian government is preparing a Museum Bill (RUU Permusemaan) to establish a specific legal framework for museum management. Putu Supadma Rudana, Chairman of the Indonesian Museum Association, stated that while existing laws cover cultural heritage and cultural advancement, they do not comprehensively address museum administration.
The proposed regulation aims to provide legal certainty and strengthen support for private museums, which currently lack the same state budget support received by national museums. The initiative is expected to be realized by next year to ensure museums can effectively serve as repositories for Indonesia's diverse cultural, historical, and scientific heritage.
