Indonesia prioritizes citizen safety amid global conflict escalations

The Indonesian government and legislative bodies are increasing monitoring and protection efforts for Indonesian citizens (WNI) caught in escalating international conflicts.

In the Middle East, members of Commission I of the DPR RI have urged the government to prioritize the safety of citizens in Yemen and Saudi Arabia due to rising tensions involving Houthi forces. Specifically, attention is being directed toward 74 Indonesian students remaining in Mokha, Yemen. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is coordinating through diplomatic missions in Muscat, Riyadh, and Jeddah to ensure communication and safety protocols are maintained.

Simultaneously, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a high-alert advisory for citizens in Russia and Ukraine following an increase in aerial attacks. Indonesian embassies in Kyiv and Moscow are monitoring the situation closely as drone and missile strikes impact various regions. Citizens are advised to avoid non-essential travel to active combat zones, seek shelter during air raid warnings, and maintain access to essential documents.
