Indonesia prioritizes defense equipment integration to counter modern threats
Indonesian Deputy Defense Minister Donny Ermawan Taufanto has emphasized the critical importance of integrating the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) defense equipment to address increasingly complex modern threats. He noted that the current strategic environment involves rapidly evolving military, non-military, and hybrid threats, meaning defense operations can no longer rely solely on the number of platforms or weapon destructive power.
To counter these challenges, Taufanto highlighted the need for interoperability, which he described as encompassing more than just communication device compatibility. True interoperability must include personnel, doctrine, procedures, data, networks, sensors, command-and-control systems, and weapon platforms.
The goal of this integration is to implement a network-centric warfare (NCW) concept, where real-time accurate data acts as a force multiplier. By integrating land, sea, air, cyber, and various support systems, the government aims to achieve joint operations that are faster, more precise, and better coordinated.
