KPK seizes more than Rp4 billion cash in Rejang Lebong‑Bengkulu corruption probe

Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has expanded a bribery investigation that began with the March 9, 2026 operation arresting Rejang Lebong regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari, his deputy, and several officials. The probe targets alleged kick‑backs in public‑works procurement for the 2025‑2026 budget.

KPK carried out raids on offices and the homes of private firms dealing in medical equipment and waste management, as well as the residence of the head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR) in Bengkulu city. During the searches, agents seized cash exceeding Rp4 billion, documents, and electronic evidence. The agency said the investigation now includes alleged payments received by the Bengkulu official from additional private parties.

No new suspects have been formally named; KPK issued a general investigation order (Sprindik) to continue gathering evidence. The earlier operation had already designated Thobari and four others as suspects for alleged procurement bribery in Rejang Lebong.
