Indonesia promotes inclusive political systems for youth participation

Indonesian leaders and officials are calling for increased political inclusion and active participation from the younger generation to strengthen national democracy. During a Round Table Discussion hosted by Lemhannas RI in Jakarta, Akmal Malik, Director General of Politics and General Government at the Ministry of Home Affairs, emphasized the need for an inclusive, adaptive, and participatory political system that allows youth to contribute ideas and aspirations rather than acting solely as voters.

Other prominent figures echoed these sentiments. Puan Maharani, Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), noted that youth have historically driven major national changes and urged for a healthy democratic relationship between the people and state institutions. Additionally, Abraham, Chairman of PP Singa Muda Hanura, advocated for creating spaces where young people can engage in constructive dialogue regarding economic and democratic challenges, ensuring they are active participants in national development rather than mere objects of politics.
