Indonesia promotes innovation awards for sustainable development

Indonesia is promoting technological and social innovation to support sustainable development through upcoming award initiatives. The Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas is encouraging the Environmental and Social Innovation Awards (ENSIA) 2026 to drive environmental and social improvements relevant to national needs.

Rachmat Pambudy, Minister of National Development Planning, emphasized that innovation must improve environmental quality, strengthen businesses, and enhance community resilience. He highlighted four strategic directions, including accelerating industrial decarbonization, strengthening downstream competitiveness, improving carbon footprint verification, and expanding access to green financing.

Simultaneously, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) hosted the Innovation and Technology for Social and Environmental Sustainability (InTechSEA) Awards 2026 in Jakarta. This event brings together government officials, academia, and the private sector to recognize innovations with positive social and environmental impacts. More than 80 companies from sectors such as energy, mining, and financial services participated in the event.
