Indonesia promotes marine tourism investment in Monaco

Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana promoted Indonesia’s marine tourism and marina industry opportunities to global investors during the 6th Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous held on September 20-21, 2026.

Highlighting Indonesia’s status as the world’s largest archipelago and a key part of the Coral Triangle, Wardhana emphasized the country's immense biodiversity, which hosts 75% of the world's coral species. She invited European investors to develop a sustainable marine tourism ecosystem, including yachting, snorkeling, and diving, while involving local communities, SMEs, and hospitality sectors.

Specific destinations promoted include Ujung Kulon, Kepulauan Seribu, Lombok, Labuan Bajo, Wakatobi, Ambon, Banda, Morotai, and Raja Ampat. Data indicates a strong market for these activities, with over 52.6% of international tourists in Indonesia engaging in marine-based tourism in 2025.
