Indonesia promotes road safety through digital contests and community rides

Various initiatives in Indonesia are focusing on promoting road safety and transportation awareness through community engagement and digital creativity.

Yayasan Astra Honda Motor (Yayasan AHM) hosted the Safety Riding Short Movie Contest (SMC) 2026, which reached over 1.7 million viewers. The contest featured 340 video entries from 985 participants across the country, showing a significant increase in participation compared to the previous year. The competition, themed ‘Stay Alive for the Next Chapter’, encouraged Gen Z to use digital platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube to advocate for safer driving habits.

In a separate effort, PT Jasa Raharja organized ‘The Jasfren Ride’ to foster transportation safety awareness and social solidarity. The event involved approximately 70 riders and focused on three core pillars: Safety Riding, Solidarity Sharing, and Community Caring. Beyond promoting safe driving practices, the initiative included a donation drive for disaster victims in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and the distribution of standard Indonesian National Standard (SNI) helmets to motorcycle taxi drivers.
