Indonesia Prosecutors Charge Officials in Fertilizer Subsidy and Zoo Funding Corruption Cases

Indonesia's Boyolali district attorney has named two female employees of PT Aneka Karya Boyolali as suspects in a scheme that diverted funds meant for subsidised fertilizer distribution between 2023‑2025. Investigators say the women transferred payments from fertilizer retailers into personal accounts and fabricated documents to conceal the fraud, causing losses to the company and potentially to the state.

In a separate case, the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office has indicted former director of the Surabaya Zoo, Choirul Anwar, for misusing animal‑feed budgets from 2016‑2024. Authorities allege he appropriated over Rp10.2 billion for personal use through fictitious expenses, prompting calls for broader reforms of zoo management across Indonesia.
