Indonesia pursues integrated landscape management and digital health innovation

Indonesia is addressing strategic national challenges regarding food security, energy independence, and climate resilience. Dr. Petrus Gunarso, founder of the Yayasan Panca Palma Tropika Indonesia, emphasized at a forum hosted by Rumah Sawit Indonesia that these issues must be managed through integrated landscape governance rather than isolated sectoral approaches. Effective management requires legal certainty across conservation areas, production forests, palm oil plantations, food agriculture, and river basins.

In the healthcare sector, digital innovations such as artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, and digital health technologies are being explored to improve diagnostic accuracy and expand access to services across Indonesia’s diverse geography. During the BINUS HealthTech Festival 2026, Juneman Abraham of BINUS University noted that technology must move beyond research prototypes to become affordable, real-world solutions that support Universal Health Coverage and bridge the gap in medical service distribution.
