Indonesia pushes community safety programs in Yogyakarta and Malang

University of Gadjah Mada Vice‑Rector for Student Affairs Arie Sujito addressed students at SMAN 4 Yogyakarta, warning of rising juvenile delinquency such as weapon possession and drug use. He cited the Governor’s Instruction No. 6512/2026 on handling school‑age misconduct and urged students to adopt the Javanese philosophy of “Eling lan Waspada,” to speak up against harmful influences and to involve families, schools and neighbourhood watch groups.

In Malang, Babinsa (military liaison officer) Wiwid of the 0833‑04/Sukun unit conducted a community‑social (Komsos) meeting in Karangbesuki. He emphasized building closer ties between the TNI and civilians, listening to local concerns, and using the dialogue to identify security or environmental issues early. Wiwid called on residents to stay vigilant, share accurate information, and cooperate with authorities to keep the neighbourhood safe and harmonious.
