Indonesia pushes housing reconstruction in Gunungkidul and Padang

The Public Works and Housing Agency in Gunungkidul Regency reported that 101 of the 256 targeted Rumah Tak Layak Huni (RTLH) units have been completed, with the remaining houses at 80‑90% progress. The agency aims to finish all units by the end of August 2026, supported by a Rp5.12 billion budget and ongoing monitoring.

In Padang City, the local housing department confirmed that the Ministry of Housing and Settlements will supply 183 fully equipped Huntap units in the Sungkai area, with construction slated to begin in early September 2026 and finish by year‑end. The project is part of a broader plan to deliver 523 permanent homes for disaster‑affected residents, with additional units to be built in Balai Gadang with support from the Buddhist Tzu Chi foundation.
