Indonesia reaches four gold medal target at 2026 Asian Games

Indonesia has reached its target of four gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya. The latest gold was secured by rock climber Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, who won the women's speed category with a record-breaking time of 6.062 seconds.

Other gold medalists for Indonesia include weightlifter Rahmat Erwin Abdullah in the men's 75kg category, who also set a new world record, and the badminton men's team. In the individual badminton events, the men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin secured gold after defeating China's Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang.

As of late September 2026, Indonesia's total medal count stands at 31, consisting of four gold, seven silver, and 20 bronze medals, placing the nation 13th in the overall standings. Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir praised the achievements as a reflection of the country's sporting strength and noted that the focus will now shift toward preparations for the 2028 Olympics.
