Indonesia RDMP Balikpapan refinery project reaches 99 percent completion
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia has confirmed that the Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, is 99 percent complete. While most work is finished, minor technical adjustments and equipment refinements are ongoing to ensure optimal operation.
During a site visit, Bahlil assured that national fuel oil (BBM) stocks remain secure. Pertalite supplies are sufficient for 16 to 18 days, while non-subsidized fuels with RON 92, 95, and 98 ratings are available for over 20 days. National diesel requirements are currently met without the need for imports.
The RDMP Balikpapan is a National Strategic Project with an investment value of approximately $7.4 billion USD. The government and PT Pertamina (Persero) are collaborating to optimize the distribution of subsidized fuel and prevent hoarding through increased supervision by local authorities and law enforcement.
