Indonesia reaffirms support for Palestinian independence

Indonesia has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to Palestinian independence through both domestic legislative statements and international diplomatic forums.

During the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), Speaker Ahmad Muzani stated that Indonesia’s support for the Palestinian struggle is rooted in the nation's history of overcoming colonization and its constitutional mandate. He emphasized that the support is not based on religion or ethnicity, but on the right of the Palestinian people to live with dignity and sovereignty in their own land.

On the international stage, Indonesia participated in a ministerial-level meeting regarding Jerusalem held in Amman, Jordan. Represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir, Indonesia proposed five concrete steps to strengthen the international response to violations in Palestine, East Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the West Bank. These steps include:

1. Developing an international strategy based on unity. 2. Enforcing international law and International Court of Justice (ICJ) rulings. 3. Expanding international recognition of Palestine. 4. Strengthening protections for Al-Aqsa Mosque. 5. Supporting Gaza reconstruction, Palestinian internal unity, and the sustainability of UNRWA.

Indonesia also expressed support for the Hashemite Custodianship of holy sites in Jerusalem and joined a joint statement rejecting unilateral actions, such as the relocation of diplomatic missions to Jerusalem.
