Indonesia recognizes Chile as fruit fly-free country

The Indonesia Quarantine Authority (IQA) has officially signed an agreement recognizing Chile as a country free of fruit fly. This sanitary milestone was finalized during meetings between Chilean Undersecretary of Agriculture Francesco Venezian and Indonesian quarantine officials.

The agreement is expected to facilitate Chilean agricultural exports by optimizing air logistics costs and times. Specifically, the recognition of free zones will allow for the entry of Chilean lemons into the Indonesian market.

This development follows a diplomatic tour through Asia, including Indonesia, Vietnam, and China, aimed at strengthening commercial and sanitary relations and diversifying export options for the Chilean fruit sector.
