Indonesia records 53,490 layoffs through August 2026

Indonesia recorded 53,490 layoffs between January and August 2026, according to data from the Ministry of Manpower's Job Loss Insurance (JKP) system.

West Java reported the highest number of layoffs in the country, with 10,880 workers affected, accounting for 20.34% of the national total. Banten and East Java followed with 6,303 and 5,400 layoffs, respectively. The Ministry noted that these figures are dynamic and subject to change, as workers have up to six months from their termination date to file claims through the JKP system.
