Indonesia records highest foreign tourist arrivals since 2020 in first half of 2026

Indonesia welcomed 7.45 million foreign visitors between January and June 2026, a 5.71 % increase over the same period last year and the strongest performance since 2020, according to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). June alone saw 1.39 million arrivals, with 1.21 million entering through main entry points and 175,696 via border crossings.

Tourists from Malaysia accounted for the largest share at 18.66 %, followed by Singapore (12.25 %) and Australia (12.08 %). The majority entered through Ngurah Rai International Airport, where Australian passport holders were the most numerous. Average spending per visitor reached US$1,285, while the average length of stay fell to 10.3 nights. Expenditure was led by accommodation (37.21 % of total), followed by food and beverage (19.81 %) and shopping/souvenirs (11.04 %).
