Indonesia records July trade surplus amid manufacturing export growth

Indonesia recorded a US$0.12 billion trade surplus in July 2026, rebounding from deficits in May and June. Total exports for the month reached US$26.22 billion, a 6.05 percent increase year-on-year, while imports rose 27.02 percent to US$26.09 billion. For the first seven months of 2026, the cumulative goods trade surplus reached US$3.70 billion.

Trade Minister Budi Santoso noted that while the nation faces an oil and gas deficit due to volatile energy markets and high domestic demand, the non-oil and gas surplus remains strong. Manufacturing was the primary driver of cumulative exports from January to July, contributing US$137.26 billion.

Separately, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade received an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) for its 2025 financial statements. This marks the 14th time the ministry has received this distinction since 2011, reflecting the agency's commitment to financial accountability and performance.
