Indonesia communities perform Salat Istisqa prayers to combat drought

Various communities and local governments across Indonesia are performing Salat Istisqa, a special prayer to request rain, in response to prolonged drought conditions and water scarcity.

In Kalimantan, Bank Kalbar held the prayer service alongside charitable donations for orphans and the underprivileged to address the risk of forest and land fires caused by the dry season. Similarly, in Kapuas, hundreds of students and teachers from Muhammadiyah schools participated in the ritual as a form of spiritual reflection and awareness regarding water conservation.

In Makassar, Mayor Munafri Arifuddin joined citizens at the Al Markaz Al-Islami Mosque to pray for relief from the drought, noting that the dry weather has impacted clean water availability and caused rotating power outages. The Selayar Regency government also organized similar prayer services to seek divine intervention for rainfall.
