Indonesia renames 32 immigration offices to optimize services
The Directorate General of Immigration in Indonesia has renamed 32 immigration offices across the country to optimize services and improve institutional effectiveness. The restructuring, which took effect on October 5, 2026, aims to align office nomenclature with the specific characteristics and service areas of each region.
In addition to the name changes, the reorganization includes adjustments to the typology of 14 immigration offices. This typology adjustment allows the organizational structure and capacity of each office to be better synchronized with regional workloads and the nature of immigration supervision required.
Notable changes include the renaming of the Surabaya Immigration Office to Juanda, Medan to Kualanamu, and Singaraja to Buleleng. The restructuring was approved by the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform and formalized through a decree from the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.
